In our First Steps class, young dancers will have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of tap, ballet, and tumbling. Our experienced instructors will guide them through the introductory steps and skills in each genre of dance, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging experience.
To encourage active participation and make learning even more enjoyable, props will be incorporated into the class. These props will spark creativity, imagination, and a sense of adventure as your child discovers the joy of dance.
Please note that dancers must be potty trained to participate in this class. We want to create a comfortable and focused environment for all participants, and ensuring that dancers are potty trained allows us to provide the best experience for everyone.
The age requirement for the First Steps class is 3 years old (or turning 3 by September 1) up to age 4. This specific age range allows us to tailor the class content and teaching methods to meet the developmental needs of our youngest dancers, ensuring an enriching and age-appropriate experience.
At Studio C, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students above all else. Our instructors create a nurturing environment where proper technique and injury prevention are paramount. We strive to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages growth, creativity, and self-expression.

Dance FAQ: Your Essential Guide to Frequently Asked Questions!
Why should I learn to dance?
We know that the study of dance can give unlimited amounts of poise, grace, beauty, and strength, which are requisites to a healthy and self-assured attitude at any stage of life.
Our aim is to give our students the best dance education possible through our professional instruction and personal attention. From our tiniest 1 & 2-year-old dancers to our high school big personalities and distinguished adults, we strive to offer more than just a “dance class” experience here at Studio C.
We pride ourselves in our commitment to teaching strong work ethic, character, personal confidence, good hygiene and nutrition, physical strength, and respect all while having fun!
When do classes begin and how long is each class?
Our regular season is from September 11, 2023 - JUNE 1, 2024. We offer small summer sessions and camps each year as well. Dance lessons are held once a week. Most classes are 45-60 minutes in length (unless otherwise stated).
Is there an age limit or range?
We have classes for children starting as young as 6 months old, with a caregiver, in our “Dance With Me” program. At age 2, children can begin taking classes independently. We offer classes in many styles for children and adults.
What should I wear for class?
Our dress code can be found on our policies page as well as in the description for each class when you are registering for class(es).
What team opportunities do you have at Studio C?
Studio C is proud to offer performance and competition opportunities to our top dancers in jazz and hip hop. Students are selected to participate at the end of each season for the following year. See our Performance Teams Page for more information.
Where can I buy dance shoes and attire?
Dancers can be custom fitted/sized for dance shoes at our open house prior to the beginning of the season. We also have dancewear, bags, and tights in stock at our Floresville downtown location.
What types of dance do you offer?
We offer a wide range of dance styles. See our list and class descriptions here: Dance Classes at Studio C
Do you accept people with disabilities?
We strive to make accommodations for all individuals who desire to dance. Please Contact the studio to discuss how we can help you with your special needs.
When is the recital?
Recital Dates are subject to change based on auditorium availability. Any changes will be communicated promptly. The Spring Recital date is tentatively set for the 1st Saturday in June. See our Recital Page for more up-to-date information.
What is your attendance policy?
Students are expected to attend classes for which they are registered. If a student misses 4 consecutive classes without making formal arrangements with studio instructors and/or administration, his/her space will be forfeited in the class for the next month. Students with excessive absences will not be permitted to perform in our annual recital.
Are parents allowed to stay in class to watch?
“WATCH DAYS” will be the first full week in November and April. This is the lesson parents and visitors are welcome to view in class. Remember, this is your day to see your child’s progress.
Please do not disturb the class by visiting amongst yourselves. Turn the ringer on the phone down. Please keep your little ones seated and quiet. In other lessons, parents are asked to walk their child inside the building and then wait in the waiting room, run a quick errand, or treat themselves to a walk around the block! This enables the dance instructors to keep the attention of the students, as well as helps those who may be a little reluctant to feel more at ease.
