Welcome to our vibrant and culturally rich Ballet Folklorico program at Studio C! Prepare to embark on a captivating journey into the heart and soul of Mexican folklore and dance. Get ready to immerse yourself in the colorful tapestry of traditions, rhythms, and movements that define this extraordinary art form!

Ballet Folklorico is an enchanting blend of Mexican folk culture and dance, beautifully woven together with ballet characteristics. In this class, your child will have the opportunity to delve into the captivating world of baile folklórico, where they will explore the rich heritage of traditional Latin American dances.

Our students thrive in this class as they discover the artistry of skirt and arm placement, carriage, beginner footwork, and performance presence. They will learn the intricate details that make each dance unique, embracing the pointed toes, exaggerated movements, and highly choreographed arrangements that are the hallmarks of baile folklórico.

The origins of baile folklórico can be traced back to the pioneering work of Amalia Hernandez, who founded her dance company in the 1960s with a group of passionate dancers. Since then, baile folklórico has become a beloved art form, representing the diverse cultures and regions of Mexico, the Southwestern United States, and Central American countries.

Each region has its own distinctive dances, reflecting the rich tapestry of local folk culture. Through Ballet Folklorico, your child will have the opportunity to explore these unique dance styles, donning vibrant costumes and moving to the rhythms that reflect the living cultures of their respective regions.

In this fusion of cultures, elements from various traditions blend together to create a language of movement that inspires and represents regional, national, and personal notions of beauty and entertainment. Your child will have the chance to express themselves artistically, embracing the diverse influences and celebrating the rich tapestry of Latin American heritage.

At Studio C, we provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where cultural diversity is celebrated. Our experienced instructors are passionate about preserving and sharing the beauty of baile folklórico, guiding your child every step of the way. We value the safety and well-being of our students, ensuring proper technique and injury prevention are always a priority.

Join us in our Ballet Folklorico program at Studio C and let your child’s spirit soar as they dive into the vibrant rhythms and captivating movements of Mexican folklore. Enroll today and be part of a rich cultural journey that celebrates diversity, artistry, and the joy of dance!

We know that the study of dance can give unlimited amounts of poise, grace, beauty, and strength, which are requisites to a healthy and self-assured attitude at any stage of life.

Our aim is to give our students the best dance education possible through our professional instruction and personal attention. From our tiniest 1 & 2-year-old dancers to our high school big personalities and distinguished adults, we strive to offer more than just a “dance class” experience here at Studio C.

We pride ourselves in our commitment to teaching strong work ethic, character, personal confidence, good hygiene and nutrition, physical strength, and respect all while having fun!

Recital Dates are subject to change based on auditorium availability. Any changes will be communicated promptly. The Spring Recital date is tentatively set for the 1st Saturday in June. See our Recital Page for more up-to-date information.

What is your attendance policy?

Students are expected to attend classes for which they are registered. If a student misses 4 consecutive classes without making formal arrangements with studio instructors and/or administration, his/her space will be forfeited in the class for the next month. Students with excessive absences will not be permitted to perform in our annual recital.

See our Policies Page for more information.

Are parents allowed to stay in class to watch?

“WATCH DAYS” will be the first full week in November and April. This is the lesson parents and visitors are welcome to view in class. Remember, this is your day to see your child’s progress.

Please do not disturb the class by visiting amongst yourselves. Turn the ringer on the phone down. Please keep your little ones seated and quiet. In other lessons, parents are asked to walk their child inside the building and then wait in the waiting room, run a quick errand, or treat themselves to a walk around the block! This enables the dance instructors to keep the attention of the students, as well as helps those who may be a little reluctant to feel more at ease.
